Suzanne Sugarbaker of Designing Women (1986) rocks the U.S. Capitol when she takes over her recently-deceased husband's seat in Congress.

Following her husband Ray's death, Suzanne Sugarbaker moves to Washington to fill her husband's seat in Congress, dragging along her developmentally-disabled brother Jim, and adopted daughter Desi. When she arrives, the only ones willing to work under her are Sissy the drunk, Natty the square, and Malone the frail homemaker.
