The Writers' Block

2018NR7.9

A writing team working on a new TV series struggle to deal with script deadlines, network interference, and procrastination as their personal lives become increasingly complicated.

THE WRITERS' BLOCK season one is a ten-episode digital series that hit the web in January 2015. Created by David Benjamin Tomlinson and Matt Watts, the series finds a writing team (Showrunner AURORA and writers DAVID and MATT) coming off the successful run of their cop show THE BADGE. In a pitch meeting with duplicitous network executive ANDREW DORIAN, Matt drunkenly pitches a terrible idea about mummies and madness on an island off the coast of British Columbia. Dorian loves the idea and the trio is suddenly stuck developing a pilot for a show they all hate. The first season of THE WRITERS' BLOCK saw the writing team work through the idea and their interpersonal conflicts, ultimately rising to the challenge and delivering a strong package for their new series called SOMERSET ISLE.
