An indecisive young woman with an abnormal devotion to her father can't decide on which of her two boyfriends she should end her relationship with.

Caroline, a wealthy woman from Vancouver moves to Quebec and gets a job at an art gallery. She becomes romantically involved with Marc, a French actor when her former college boyfriend Peter shows up and asks her to return home and marry him. Caroline is indecisive and decides to put off choosing between her 2 suitors as long as possible. Perfectly content to allow her lovers to become rivals, neither can usurp her father's position as the most important man in her life. When he announces his plans to marry one of her girlfriends from college, Caroline immediately flies back to the west coast to attend his engagement party. Marc and Peter, frustrated and fed up with her games, follow her to the party for a confrontation.
