The Presence of Snowgood comes off the back of a movie short, 'A curious tale', released in 2021, a classic ghost story set in the heart of the Sussex countryside, based on a novella by MR James. It tells the story of a valuable legendary Saxon crown that, sought by those who should not have found it and the deadly consequences that ensued. The film opens with an historical explanation of how the legend came to be, followed by a dramatic depiction of what became of one of these legendary crowns. Hurled then into the 20th century, mid 80's to be precise, we are introduced to our main protagonist, John Knightley, a retired, washed out, detective who has been hired to investigate the disappearances of the two men who vanished the year before. His state of mental health makes him struggle to believe what he really sees and serves to heighten the suspense. Various characters appear who would it seems all have something to hide as our detective attempts to unravel a web of deceit, greed and fear as supernatural elements lead to his own unravelling.
