The Doris Mary Anne Kappelhoff Special

1971 G 1h 6.9

A one hour TV special featuring star Doris Day singing duets with Perry Como, reminiscing with screen costar Rock Hudson, and interacting with several of her own family dogs.

Doris Day hosts her own musical-comedy variety special, with music including in every segment of the show. The dedicated musical segments feature Doris and her guest Perry Como performing either individually or together in duets. The non-musical dedicated sketches include Doris out and about in the community using her preferred transportation mode, introducing some of her family members who arguably are her best friends, talking about all the fashions she wanted to wear on the show but could not within the constraints of the script, and reminiscing about what she believes she's done on the silver screen more than anything else, the presentation of movie clips demonstrating that action which brings a surprise visitor onto the set to mop up like he's done for her before.
