An adaptation of the novel by Penelope Lively. The plot revolves around the ghosts of plague victims in a sleepy wood.

Two children, Mair and Peter, recently move into an old village with their father. One day they enter the forbidden Tranters' Wood when their dog wanders off into it and encounter a strange character called Goacher. He offers to treat their dog when it is injured, and soon they get to meet the reclusive Tranter family. But there is a secret that the family are guarding, and one day Mair has strange visions in the woods of ghosts of the past, and a threat that could yet befall the village.
