The Beast from the Beginning of Time

1965 NR 58m 3.9

After being dug up by two archaeologists, the preserved body of a prehistoric man returns to life and wreaks havoc.

Two archaeologists are surprised by a well-preserved human unearthed from a layer of shale. Subsequent scintillometer analysis reveals the body is millions of years old, an early ancestor to modern man. One of the archaeologists realizes the importance of this find and wants to keep it to himself. He tries to prevent the museum administration and board, who are underwriting the cost of the dig, from finding out exactly what has been discovered. He has the museum officials spend the night at a local hotel so that he can work on it some more. To keep his secret, the field foreman and the junior archaeologist on the project are included in his circle. As they work on the specimen, an electrical storm moves into the area. It unexpectedly reanimates the prehistoric fellow, and he is not in good humor. He impales one of the field workers on a shovel. He becomes inanimate again after the storm is gone. The scientists quickly move him to the museum labs. A second electrical storm erupts. Once again reanimated, the beast murders the junior archaeologists and the night watchman. He then goes after the museum administrator's wife who has come looking for her husband. Her screams draw those hunting down the beast. Bullets don't seem to stop it. Maybe a spike from the tail of a stegosaurus will do?
