Planet Ibsen is about a tormented playwright who is forced to revisit his past while being trapped inside his archrival's most famous play. Planet Ibsen explores the rivalry between Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen and his Swedish counterpart August Strindberg. In Planet Ibsen, August Strindberg believes he is trapped inside Henrik Ibsen's A Dolls House and his only means of escape is to rewrite Ibsen's play, in the attempt to revise his life. Planet Ibsen, a surrealist film set in the Victorian era, speaks to a wide range of audiences by bringing family and marital relationships to the forefront. At its core, Planet Ibsen explores the choices we make in life and how our choices not only impact us but the one's we love. Thematically, the film explores the head-games we play in a relationship to rationalize our mistakes.
