A belly dancer causes a scandal with her "suggestive" and "immoral" dancing at a Worlds Fair exhibition at the turn of the 20th century.

A con-man,Wayne Cravat (Mark Stevens) and a phony Egyptian princess, from New Jersey, calling herself Izora (Rhonda Fleming), against the backdrop of the Chicago Exposition of 1893, do their cunning best to con Chicago tobacco tycoon Cyrus Graydon (Minor Watson) out of a million dollars. During their machinations, Izora agrees to put on a demonstration of "ancient Egyptian ceremonial dances to help attract customers to the fair. Her hoochie coochie dancing gets her arrested by the Chicago police and charged with indecent exposure.
