It Rained All Night the Day I Left

1980 NR 1h 35m 4.1

A tough rich female ranch owner in Africa wants to cut off the water supply to the locals, since she holds them responsible for the murder of her husband. She hires two charming gunrunners as help, but they suspect her shady competitor.

Robert Talbot and Leopold Garcia are two charming gunrunners who met in Rhodesia years ago, befriended, and partnered up. Their latest venture takes them to a small desert place in Africa, where they get ambushed and mugged by some guards. It turns out they're on the property of the Colonel, a tough good looking widow of a wealthy white ranch owner, who fought alongside the real life Nazi German general Rommel in WWII. The husband has been murdered and she blames the local poor black population for this crime. As an act of vengeance, she plans to cut off the water supply to the local population, so the government threatens to nationalize her land and throw her out. She hires Bob and Leo to help her, but they don't like the idea of punishing the townsfolk, so they instead investigate her late husband's old shady competitor Killian, who plans to marry the Colonel's cute nineteen-year-old daughter Suzanna in an arranged marriage. Meanwhile, the Colonel falls for Leo and Suzanna falls for Bob, which neither of them minds too much. When the Colonel proposes marriage to Leo and asks Bob to marry her daughter in order for the four of them to become a family, Leo likes the idea but Bob gets cold feet.
