Despite his age and fatigue, Gebo pursues his activity as an accountant to support his family. He lives with his wife, Doroteia, and daughter-in-law, Sofia, but it is the absence of their son, João, that worries them. Gebo seems to be hiding something about this, particularly from Doroteia, who is anxiously waiting to see her son again. Sofia, for her part, also awaits her husband's return, but at the same time fears it. Suddenly João reappears and everything changes.
