The film is created in a cinema vérité tradition, as the filmmakers immerse in the life of Gary K. and his partner Richard Springle, as they struggle to create their own acting company and stage play. Their relationship sours, sobriety is at risk, and Gary moves to Del Ray Beach, the center of the opioid epidemic, to mentor young adults and practice the 12th step, in order to maintain his own sobriety in the face of so much death.
