Presenting a portrait of several self-described "Contactees" who, back in the 1950's, claimed to have been in touch with friendly visitors from the planet Venus. Theirs is a world of mysterious government conspiracies, strange religious rites and tales of life on other planets; a world inhabited by an assortment of true believers, Christian fundamentalists, and messianic cults. Through contemporary interviews with the few remaining pioneers of the original Flying Saucer Movement, illustrated with a wide assortment of unusual archival footage, the film examines the role of these "Contactees" in creating much of contemporary UFO mythology. With it's emphasis on the political and religious motivations of these people "FAREWELL, GOOD BROTHERS" is a startling and humorous parable of what it is to believe in the unbelievable.
