Teenager Chris Jury admires the grace of the soaring flight of the California Condor. On a trip to watch these birds he sees a sailplane make a landing in a nearby field. An excited 16 year-old pilot Margaret emerges from its cockpit. She has just completed her first 50km flight across country for her "Silver C" Certificate. Fascinated, Chris accepts Margarets invitation to go along to her gliding club for a trial flight. He is immediately bitten by the bug and takes up the sport. There are many adventures for Chris as he advances swiftly to reach an advanced level. The culmination is a 500km flight he attempts for "Diamond Distance". He notices his beloved Condors soaring which help him along. Now finally he is at one with them and the circle is complete.
