#chicagoGirl: The Social Network Takes on a Dictator

2013NR1h 14m7.1

From the Chicago suburbs, an American teenager helps run the Syrian revolution. With social media, she helps her network expose regime atrocities. But as the violence rages everyone must choose their weapon: Facebook or AK-47s.

A socially networked group of unarmed activists, in and out of Syria, use Facebook, Youtube and camera phones to fight one of the world's most brutal dictators and turn the world's eyes to the human rights atrocities in Syria. But just because the world can see the violence doesn't mean the world can help. As the revolution rages on, the individuals in the network must decide for themselves which is the more powerful weapon to bring down the Assad regime: camera phones or AK-47s.
