Biography

Deva is a Writer-Director working in comedy, genre and drama. She is passionate about working on stories that are driven by misfits and maybe that's because she is one. Half Egyptian-Maltese, half UK, Deva was born in New Zealand and as a child lived in Indonesia, India, Switzerland and the UK. She originally trained as an actress at Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a BP Scholarship and then toured across Canada with her own theatre company. A few years later she went on to spend the summer studying filmmaking at Tisch School of the Arts, NYU, on a William and Eva Fox Fellowship. Deva's short films have been selected for many awards and she was fortunate enough to be mentored by Gurinder Chadha for a year on the Guiding Lights scheme but really, she feels her biggest prize is to be making Finding Clive, her second feature film, this year. "I've been working away on BLUE, my first feature film, for the last two years with an outstanding team and we're heading towards the end of the picture edit. I can't wait to screen this wonderful film."
