Exponential technology is changing the world and the Singularity University (SU) was setup to encourage people to harness these powerful new technologies and trends to positively impact the planet. The film was shot and produced over 7 years-with the documentary filmmakers immersing themselves into the same environment as the Graduate Studies Program students in their intensive 10-week summer program. It tells the story of the students, the faculty, and how Singularity University inspires students to confront the crucial issues affecting the future of our species-and create startups to address these topics. "The University" follows the students as they are given a fearsome challenge: create companies that will impact a billion people within ten years. It is a way to push the students to create something bolder than simply the next social networking app.
