A factory worker is convinced to hijack a helicopter and help two prisoners escape from jail.

Based on real facts, this story portrays the physical and emotional isolation of two individuals and the futility of their attempt to escape it. Joyce Mattox, a woman engulfed by the boredom and mediocrity of her small-town existence, meets a prisoner on a visit with her church choir. Their attraction grows until Joyce is convinced that she must help Jesse break out of prison so that they can always be together.
