Red All Over

2015 NR 1h 46m 5.1

"Red All Over" is a stark observation into both sides of an often untold story of gun violence, bullying and LIFE.

In the wake of today's most controversial issue of gun violence, a teen becomes the victim of his planning. Red is somewhat of a pariah at school, socially withdrawn from his family and frustrated by his gritty urban surroundings. He longs for a better life if only he could control the things around him. Namely, his embarrassing alcoholic father, recovering addict mother, and a popular jock at school who is bullying him. His only true place of solitude is a journal he keeps. He writes haiku and draws when seeking refuge from reality. Traditionally, stories of gun violence focus on the victims. This film, however, is told from both the victims and the shooter's points of view. Red All Over explores the easy access to guns in the inner city, and the emotional journey Red takes before and after the shooting. Why he had a gun and felt the need to shoot anyone? It also outlines the impact bullying played on his life. The issue of gun violence is a political, moral, and personal debate in our society. In this film, we invite the audience to both sides before choosing one.
