Ms. Match

Having moved to Los Angeles six years ago following college, Athena Carter works as a consultant at Date Better, a "dating school" where the consultants teach the clients how to be better dates by going on mock dates. While she started doing the work as material for writing rom-com screenplays, she has found that the writing has gone largely by the wayside as she excels at the dating consulting work. There is not only a strict protocol of no fraternizing between consultants and their clients, but measures in place to ensure that that fraternization does not occur, including the consultants working under a pseudonym when on these dates, Athena going by the name Amy. Athena's social life is largely confined to spending time with her best friend Ben, who she met in college, and her social media influencer roommate Shea, the problem being the dislike that exists between Ben and Shea. Athena in some respects has lost herself in being Amy, the reason that she herself does not date much in her private life. That problem is only exacerbated by her latest client, Jason, her boyfriend in college and who she can admit to herself is the only person she has ever loved in that romantic sense. Athena's feelings for Jason have since crossed the line into hate due to the way their relationship ended in Jason seemingly not really understanding her as a person, including he not having moved to Los Angeles with her six years ago as they had long talked about doing. The question then becomes if Athena can find herself again truly to find true love for herself.
