When upper-class woman Sara discovers, that her husband Jan is having an affair with a younger woman, she leaves him. Now she has to take care of herself and therefore rents an old house in Valby and starts a new and more humble life. At first the situation seems a little sad, but with her unfailing good spirits Sara quickly becomes popular in the neighborhood, amongst others with the salsa-freak Sus and the cable-guy Holger. They try to get her involved in their conflict with the neighborhood's black sheep, the taxi-driver Robert, but are not successful. Sara manages to keep out of the controversies and soon her husband has to realize that Sara is doing just fine without him.
