Life on Liberty Street

2004 NR 1h 29m 5.9

A nurse, trying to salvage her life after her husband and job are gone, winds up working in a halfway house full of mildly brain-damaged patients and receives help from those she helps.

Dr. Jake Mitchell supervises a Nova Scotia halfway-house for brain injury patients. Richard Jr. 'Rick' Spencer, a Harvard-elect whose brain was crippled in a car accident, gets on spectacularly well with unorthodox nurse Denise Di Fiori, who was fired from a city hospital for ignoring the doctor, and her darling boy Sam, who misses his divorced dad in daily life. Rick loves working in Sam's uncle Sal's pizza-parlor, and by accident becomes a local hero. Jake gets a crush on Denise, which renders Rick jealous. Richard Sr., a top lawyer, decides to break them up at all cost.
