Architects of Denial

2017 NR 1h 42m 7.8

Featuring Julian Assange, George Clooney, and brutal witness accounts, this film explores the controversy surrounding the Armenian genocide and persecution of Middle Eastern Christians, including the U.S. politicians who deny it occurred.

Directed by a "David Lee George" who does not exist, and largely supported by contributors that are listed as "anonymous," the film purports to prove the Ottoman Empire systematically exterminated 1.5 million Armenians (their entire prewar population) in the thick of a war for life or death, where manpower and resources were scarce, and for no discernible motive, and without mention of the Armenians' wide scale rebellion. Evidence is attempted through two Armenian "witnesses" said to be 108-years-old, and partisan "experts" who are not historians, as with Julian Assange and Taner Akçam (a Kurdish nationalist with a sociology degree) who claims to have found a "smoking gun," what no honest historian has found to be legitimate. The film's latter half attempts to put a conspiratorial spin on America's refusal at the time to officially use the genocide word. The film was executive produced by Dean Cain and Montel Williams, neither known for journalistic rigor, who (along with participant George Clooney) form part of the celebrity circus who operate under the guise of preventing mass violence in order to raise their public relations value.
