A shell-shocked young GI mistakenly believes he is dying, and a young artist takes it upon herself to prove to him that he's not.

Bill Baker, a shell-shocked World War Two veteran, mistakenly believes he has only six months to live, plans to commit suicide. As he is about to jump off a bridge he meets a young artist, Vickie North, who is also planning suicide. They talk each other out of the idea and decide to face life together.
