A Homecoming for the Holidays

The Quinn family is convening for Christmas for the first time in two years in their hometown of Canyon Pass MT. Son Eric has completed his final tour of duty and has come home to take over father Glenn's construction business, Glenn, a vet himself, who needs to slow down in age and injuries taking their toll. Glenn's final project is volunteering the company for Operation Homefront, a non-profit aiding military families with housing needs, the house being built in Canyon Pass for one of Eric's former colleagues, army widow Dana Alvarez and her teenage daughter Hadley, who is the star pupil in Patty Quinn's music class and who is heading to Julliard after graduation if she can get one of the scholarships available. And daughter Charlotte is a country music star, she taking a break from her current tour with ex-love interest Taylor Robb. That stardom was just a pipe dream the last time all four members of the family got together two years ago at Eric's send off. It will be a working vacation for Charlotte in she needing to write some new material as she is heading into the recording studio in the new year. It is an unexpected homecoming in many ways. First, Eric has not told the family that he is thinking about going back overseas in a military related job, the next hurdle being the imminent interview, which if he is offered it means an uncertain future for Glenn and Patty's retirement and Glenn's company. And Charlotte makes an emotional connection with another of Eric's former army colleagues, Matt who is in town temporarily for Operation Homefront until the house is completed and the next housing project for the organization is assigned to him. Any time Charlotte and Matt may have together is truncated as Charlotte is offered at the last minute a Christmas special on the 23rd in Nashville. Beyond they living in two different worlds and on two different schedules, Charlotte and Matt's road to a potential happily ever after has the further hurdle of Taylor in her life, the incorrect public speculation of them getting back together which may play on Matt's psyche and which Taylor himself fosters in it helping his career.
