Successful architect Paul Stewart (James McCaffrey) has been leading a lonely life since the death of his wife, Beth, nine months ago. When Paul receives a large life insurance settlement from this, he is coincidentally visited by the stunning Laura Pierce (Leslie Hope), a woman claiming to be a friend of Beth's. This is all part of a scheme set up by Victor Kraft (John Glover), a ruthless con man after the money. Paul's business partner, Evelyn Hayes (Polly Draper) discovers the plan and Victor's set-up quickly unravels into a web of deception, lust, and murder, with a surprising conclusion that no one planned on.
