Autism: Disability or Gift ? GENERATION 'A' looks at how youths with autism are using the arts and creative therapies to reach their highest potential. Featuring autism role models Dr. Temple Grandin and Dr. Stephen Shore.

'GENERATION 'A' : Portraits of Autism & the Arts' is a documentary about youths on the autism spectrum using the arts to reach their highest potential. Creative programs and therapies featured include dance, music, painting, and animation. In the film, we witness that autism comes with its 'gifts' as well as its 'challenges.' Through these gifts, autistic individuals are able to connect with others and create pathways into their communities. Ultimately, the film is about encouraging society to embrace diversity and to create opportunities that promote happy, productive, and fulfilling lives for this growing population. In 1989, one in 10,000 children were diagnosed with autism, today the statistic is one in 88 (CDC, 2012). Featuring Temple Grandin and Ed Asner.
