2000 NR 29m 7.8

The heart warming true story of the only U.S. survivor of The Battle of Little Big Horn... the horse named Comanche.

One of the great horse/war stories ever told is a true one. A survivor of the 7th Cavalry at the Battle of the little Big Horn, Comanche was the personal mount of Captain Myles Keogh. A mixed mustang/Morgan, Comanche got his name fighting the Comanches in Kansas in 1868. The veteran of many battles, this incredibly tough horse was wounded numerous times. On June 25, 1876, Captain Keogh rode Comanche into history at the infamous Battle Of The Little Big Horn. Keogh was killed and Comanche was found two days after the battle, badly wounded and clinging to life. He was transported by riverboat to Fort Lincoln, Nebraska and slowly nursed back to health. After a lengthy illness the brave horse was retired. This docudrama, featuring Wilford Brimley, Angie Dickinson and Kris Kristofferson, tells the heart warming true story of the only U.S. survivor of The Battle of Little Big Horn - the horse named Comanche.
